EDINBURG – Senior PSJA alum
Jorge Flores started and pitched four no-hit innings to lead The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley baseball team past Central Michigan University (CMU) 6-3 on Saturday at UTRGV Baseball Stadium during day two of the Al Ogletree Classic.
In his UTRGV (3-0) debut, Flores (1-0) racked up a career-high four strikeouts while scattering three walks.

Juan Carreon II followed with three innings of shutout relief, striking out three while allowing three hits and one walk.
UTRGV broke through against CMU (1-2) starter
Pat Leatherman (0-1) in the second on a single by sophomore
Tyler Torres, who recorded his third-straight multi-hit game by going 2-for-3 with a walk. Sophomore
Elijah Alexander finished 2-for-4.
UTRGV added five runs in the seventh on a wild pitch, a three-run home run by junior
Ryan Fish, and a single by junior
Roger Varela III.
CMU scored its runs in the eighth on a two-run home run by
Jason Sullivan and a single by
Zach Heeke.

UTRGV closes out the Al Ogletree Classic on Sunday at 3 p.m. against Stephen F. Austin. Central Michigan faces Stephen F. Austin at 11 a.m. Fans can receive free general admission by helping UTRGV strike out hunger through the donation of five non-perishable food items. As a thank you, donors will receive free general admission. All donations benefit the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley. Gates open at 10.
