EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team aims to get back on track as it hosts the University of the Incarnate Word on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
The match was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. but was pushed back due to wet courts.
Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend.
Last Time Out
UTRGV (4-5) had its two-match win streak snapped after falling 3-4 to Sam Houston State.
UTRGV took an early lead after winning two of three doubles matches. Juniors Marine Darzyan and
Dominique Ibarra opened doubles with a win on court one.
Senior
Dominique Esparza and junior
Doris Aleksovska clinched the point with a win on court two.
In singles, Sam Houston State won on courts four, five, three and six to clinch the win.
Ibarra got UTRGV a point with a win on court three for her sixth straight win.
Esparza closed out the match with a win on court one.
Scouting Incarnate Word
Incarnate Word is 0-4 on the season before heading into its match with Air Force on Friday.
Incarnate Word has losses to Houston, UTSA, Louisiana Lafayette, and Eastern Michigan.
Incarnate Word enters the weekend 4-17 in singles play with Sara Djurdjevic leading the way with a 2-2 record.
In doubles, Incarnate Word is 3-6 with one win on each of the spots.
The All-Time Series
UTRGV is 4-1 all-time against Incarnate Word in a series that dates back to 1990.
The last time both of these teams faced each other came back on February 27, 2015 when UTRGV won 6-1 at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.

UTRGV currently has eight student-athletes on the roster representing seven different countries, including the Macedonia, Mexico, Russia, Spain, India, Germany and Denmark.
