HOUSTON – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team wraps up its three-match road trip when it faces Rice on Friday at 10 a.m. at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
 
Last Time Out
UTRGV (6-7) fell 0-4 to the University of Houston in its second straight road match.
 
Houston took the first two doubles matches to take the doubles point and the early lead.
 
Houston then won on courts one, six and two to clinch the win.
 
Dominique Ibarra won her first set against Lauren Alter before the match was stopped while Anastasia Balyaeva also won her first set against Alison Mills on court four before it was stopped.
 
Scouting Rice
Rice is 7-6 on the season after posting a 4-3 win over Colorado back on March 13. Rice is 4-2 at home this season.
 
Rice has home wins over Lamar, Texas A&M, Houston, and Texas State.
 
Anna Bowtell has posted a perfect 7-0 record this season while playing at the No. 4, 5, and 6 spots as she is tied for the team lead with Savannah Durkin, who has posted a 7-5 record in singles this season.
 
As a team, Rice is 32-29 in singles while posting a 19-16 record in doubles. Lindsey Hodge and Wendy Zhang have teamed up to lead Rice with an 8-3 record in the doubles. Bowtell and Priya Niezgoda have recorded the second most wins with a 4-3 record.
 
The All-Time Series
UTRGV is 1-9 all-time against Rice in a series that dates back to 1988.
 
The last time these two teams met came back on January 13, 2009 when Rice picked up the 7-0 victory.
 
The last time UTRGV defeated Rice was back on February 6, 1988 when it won 9-0 in Houston.

UTRGV currently has eight student-athletes on the roster representing seven different countries, including the Macedonia, Mexico, Russia, Spain, India, Germany and Denmark.
