HOUSTON – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team closed out its three-match road trip with 0-4 loss to Rice University on Friday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
UTRGV (6-8) fell behind after doubles as Rice (8-6) won matches on courts one and three to clinch the point.
In singles, Rice added to its lead after junior
Doris Aleksovska retired after the first set on court five. Rice went on to also win on courts one and three to clinch the win. The matches on courts two, four and six went unfinished once the match was decided.
UTRGV travels back home to host the University of New Mexico on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend. Gates open at 9 a.m.
