EDINBURG – Senior

Johnson racked up a season-high 10 strikeouts while allowing one walk.
Johnson retired the first nine batters he faced before an error put
Jeremy Pena aboard to leadoff the fourth. Johnson then retired the next eight hitters before Pena walked on a 3-2 pitch with two outs in the sixth. Johnson retired the final four batters he faced. He threw 67 fo his 96 pitches (69.8 percent) for strikes.
Junior Nikki Rowe alum
Ryan Jackson (2-0) took over in the eighth, and after retiring the first two hitters he faced,
Kevin Doody reached on an infield-single,
Cody Pasic doubled to drive-in a run, and then Pena hit a two-run home run to tie the game at 3.
That's where the scored stayed until the ninth, when UTRGV (8-6) put runners on first and second with one out against
Connor Johnson (0-1). Sophomore Sharyland alum
David Becerra came up with a pinch-hit infield-single, and then a throwing error scored junior
Anthony Gomez to end the game.
UTRGV started the scoring in the second when junior
Conrad McMahon drew a bases loaded walk.
