RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team fell 3-0 to California Baptist University on Friday at Lancer Soccer Field in its first match of the weekend.
CBU (11-3-1, 4-1 WAC) jumped out to the early 1-0 lead as
Karley Weeks found the back of the net at 12:26.
Later in the first half, CBU added to its lead after a goal by
Miranda Hald at 28:31 making it 2-0.
Hald added another goal at 79:00 to cap the scoring in the match.
UTRGV (8-4-2, 2-1-1 WAC) was outshot by CBU 12 to 19 and 5 to 9 on goal.
Senior
Kinga Szemik made six saves in the match while CBU's
Romane Salvador made five saves.
UTRGV will be back in action Sunday when it hosts CSU Bakersfield at 1 p.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex. Admission is complimentary, courtesy of Entravision. Gates open at 12.
