OREM, Utah – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Utah Valley University (UVU) on Thursday at Clyde Field, in its first match of the weekend.
UVU (9-8-1, 3-2-0 WAC) jumped out to the quick 1-0 lead as
Jocelyn Bybee scored at 4:32.
Later in the first half,
Breanna DeWaal scored to extend UVU's lead to 2-0 at 39:47 as they took the lead into halftime.
DeWaal added her second goal of the match at 51:39 making it 3-0 UVU before UTRGV (9-5-2, 3-2-1 WAC) got on the board as graduate student
Katherine Stokely converted a penalty kick at 80:16 for her third goal of the season.
UVU outshot UTRGV 13-6 and 8-3 on goal.
Senior
Kinga Szemik made five saves in the match while UVU's Allie Jara made two saves.
UTRGV will be back in action Saturday when it faces Seattle U at 9 p.m.
