KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team played to a 1-1 double overtime draw against Kansas City on Friday at Durwood Stadium.
UTRGV (6-3-2) jumped out to the early lead as sophomore
Shentatious Knox took the pass from junior
Gina Steiner and scored her second goal of the season for the 1-0 lead at 16:46.
Kansas City (8-1-3) got the equalizer from
Emma Wilson as she took the pass from
Amanda Sampson to score at 38:59.
That would be all the scoring for both sides as senior
Kinga Szemik made seven saves while
Erin Roth made five saves for Kansas City.
Kansas City outshot UTRGV 17 to 12 overall and 8 to 6 on goal.
UTRGV will be back in action Sunday when it hosts Grand Canyon at 3 p.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
