EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's soccer team opened its spring season with a 1-1 draw with the Rio Grande Valley FC on Sunday at H-E-B Park.
 
UTRGV took six shots with three of them on goal. Junior Michael Faber made one of those shots count as he accounted for UTRGV's lone goal.
 
"I think one of the things that we have worked on is the combination between our midfielders and our forwards," UTRGV head coach Paul Leese said. "It paid off in that instance so the boys will feel good the way we scored that goal with the ability to get forward and combine."
 
"It was a great game," Leese said. "Obviously, we are very grateful to have the Toros here. We are very appreciative that we get to play and measure ourselves against guys of this level." 
 
UTRGV will be back in action on February 16 when it travels to Austin to face the Austin Bold FC.
