ARLINGTON – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team fell 0-4 to the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) on Sunday at the UTA Tennis Center.
 
UTRGV (1-5) picked up a doubles win as the duo of seniors Marine Darzyan and Dominique Ibarra got the 7-6 win over Lucia Natal and Nanaka Takeuchi on court one. 
 
UTA (8-1) answered with wins on doubles courts two and three to take the point. They then followed up with wins on singles courts two, three, and five to close out the match for the win.
 
The other three matches went unfinished. Senior Doris Aleksovska dropped her first set 5-7 to Takeuchi on court four but was tied at 2-2 in the second when the match was stopped. 
 
Freshman Sandra Putzwas also down a set against Carla Vives after falling 4-6 in the first but was up 4-2 in the second when the match stopped. 
 
UTRGV will be back on the courts on February 23 when it heads to College Station to face Abilene Christian at 10 a.m. in a neutral site match and then Texas A&M at 2 p.m.
