PHOENIX, Ariz. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team will have its first taste of Western Athletic Conference play in the first WAC Cluster of the season, hosted by Grand Canyon University, from Friday through Sunday at the GCU Tennis Facility.
 
UTRGV will face Chicago State on Friday at 10 a.m., New Mexico State on Saturday at 6 p.m., and Seattle U on Sunday at 11 a.m.
 
All-Time Series

• UTRGV is 7-2 against Chicago State in a series that dates back to 2009.
• UTRGV won last year's matchup 5-2 in Seattle.
• UTRGV is 3-8 all-time against New Mexico State in a series that dates back to 2008.
• Last defeated New Mexico State 5-2 to close out the 2018 regular season.
• UTRGV is 5-2 all-time against Seattle U in a series that dates back to 2009.
• Defeated Seattle U 7-0 last season at home.

 
Scouting Chicago State

• Chicago State is 6-10 on the season.
• Is coming off of a 1-6 loss at Southern Utah.

Scouting New Mexico State

• New Mexico State is 6-5 on the season.
• Is coming off of a 1-4 loss to Wyoming.
• Has wins against Western New Mexico, Utah State, UC Riverside, Central Oklahoma, UTSA, and Montana State.
• New Mexico State is 26-31 in singles play this season with Harsha Challa leading the way with seven victories.
• In doubles, New Mexico State is 15-12 on the season with Chloe Gavino and Rebecca Keijzerwaard lead in the way with a 4-1 record.

 
Scouting Seattle U

• Seattle U is 5-8 on the season.
• Is coming off of an 0-4 loss to New Mexico.
• Has wins against Whitman College, Lewis-Clark State College, Puget Sounds, Lewis and Clark University, and George Fox.
• Prior to its last match, Seattle U was 38-34 in singles play. Lily-Ana Kreutzer leading the way with eight victories.
• In doubles, Seattle U was 18-17 with two doubles team tied for the team lead with five victories.

 
Last Time Out

• UTRGV fell 1-4 to Southern Miss at home.
• In doubles, Marine Darzyan and Dominique Ibarra won on court one to win UTRGV's lone match.
• Ibarra followed doubles with a 6-4, 6-1 against Arina Amaning on court one to account for UTRGV's only point.
