PHOENIX, Ariz. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team bounced back with a 6-1 victory over Seattle University on Sunday at the GCU Tennis Complex to close out the first weekend of the Western Athletic Conference Cluster.
 
UTRGV (5-10, 2-1 WAC) got things rolling by taking the doubles point. UTRGV swept through doubles as seniors Marine Darzyan and Dominique Ibarragot the 6-0 win over Hannah Gianan and Lily-Ana Kreutzer on court one. 
 
Seniors Michelle Walker and Doris Aleksovskaalso picked up the 6-0 victory over Jillian Rasmussen and Aranza Alvarez-Sanabria on court two and then it was the freshman duo of Sandra Putz and Katarina Sasarogawho closed out doubles with a 6-2 win over Hannah Grossman and Kali McCollister.
 
In singles, UTRGV kept the pressure on Seattle U (5-11, 0-3 WAC). On court one, Ibarra made it 10 straight wins as she didn't drop a game to Gianan winning 6-0, 6-0. 
 
Walker picked up the 6-1, 6-1 victory over Alvarez-Sanabria on court three and Aleksovska followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Martina Asciuto on court four.
 
Freshman Nethmi Waduge added a 7-6, 6-4 win over McCollister on court five and Putz followed up with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kreutzer on court six.
 
Seattle U got its lone point with a win on court two.
 
UTRGV will be back in action on April 1 when it hosts Stephen F. Austin in its final home match of the regular season at 1 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
