Women's Tennis Closes Out Regular Season Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville

KINGSVILLE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team closes out the regular season when it faces off against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Javelina Tennis Courts.
 
The match was originally for early in the season but due to inclement weather that match was pushed to the end of the season.
 
All-Time Series
  • UTRGV is 10-1 all-time against Texas A&M-Kingsville in a series that dates back to 1988.
  • Both teams faced off last season as it was UTRGV who came away with the 7-0 win at home.
 
Scouting Texas A&M-Kingsville
  • Texas A&M-Kingsville is 11-6 on the season.
  • The Javelinas are coming off of a 4-3 victory against St. Mary's on Wednesday.
  • Texas A&M-Kingsville is 60-37 in singles this spring with Julia Rauer leading the team with a 15-2 record.

  • Sandra Putz notched a 6-3, 6-1 victory on court six.
 
WAC Player of the Week Times Two
  • Dominique Ibarra earned her second WAC Singles Player of the Week nomination last week after going 2-0 to close out the WAC play.
  • She finished a perfect 5-0 in WAC play while playing at the No. 1 spot.
  • She defeated Kansas City's Michela Xibilia 6-1, 6-1 and then capped off the weekend with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Grand Canyon's Emilia Occhipinti.
  • Ibarra has now won 12 in a row and has not lost since January 19.
 
Moving Up the All-Time List
  • Dominique Ibarra currently has 63 career singles victories and 52 career doubles victories.
  • Her 63 career singles victories rank her third all-time behind Ellen Nelissen (1991-95), who has 67 career singles victories, and Leah Viloria (1988-91), who has 64 career singles victories.
  • She is the program all-time leader in overall career wins with 115 victories.
