SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Diamond Thomas finished fifth in her flight in the discus throw for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) outdoor track & field team during the second day of the NCAA West Preliminary Round on Friday at Hornet Stadium.
 
Thomas finished 20^th overall out of 48 competitors with a mark of 51.29 meters, the second best of her career and third best in program history.
 
UTRGV wraps up competition on Saturday with senior Dai'ja Coleman competing in the triple jump at 5 p.m. and Thomas, freshman Samariae Bonds and sophomore Alexandrea Hurst competing in the shot put at 7:15.
