AUSTIN –The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's soccer team opened the preseason with a 2-1 victory over St. Edward's University in an exhibition match on Friday at the Lewis-Chen Family Field.
 
Seniors William Akioand Kyle Edwards were trying to pick up where they left off last season. Akio took the pass from Edwards to get UTRGV on the board.
 
Later in the match, junior Bryce Boxnotched the game-winner with senior Arthur Rogers coming in with the assist.
 
UTRGV will be back in action with its second exhibition match of the preseason when it faces Texas A&M-International on Sunday at 7 p.m.
