EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's soccer team played UTEP to a double-overtime scoreless draw on Sunday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
UTRGV (2-1-1) has now held opponents scoreless for the last 303:14, including three-straight shutouts.
UTRGV outshot UTEP (1-1-2) 11-to-7 while UTEP held the advantage in shots on goal at 5-to-4. Sophomores
Emily Zapata and
Elina Seppälä led UTRGV with three shots, one on goal, each. Freshman
Maya Chitman added two shots, one on goal.
Senior
Kinga Szemik (2-1-1) and
Emily Parrot (1-1-2) each made four saves.
UTRGV continues this four-match home stand on Friday at 7 p.m. against Southern Utah at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex. Admission is complimentary, courtesy of Entravision. Gates open at 6.
