EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's soccer team posted its fourth-straight shutout in a 1-0 victory over Southern Utah University (SUU) on Friday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
UTRGV (3-1-1) has now held opponents scoreless for the last 393:14.
This is the first time UTRGV has recorded four-straight shutouts since Sept. 30-Oct. 12, 2017. That streak was part of a 441:32 shutout streak, the second longest in program history. The program record for consecutive shutouts is five, set from Aug. 26-Sept. 11, 2016. That streak was part of a program-record 512:52 shutout streak.

Kinga Szemik (3-1-1) made two saves for UTRGV while recording her third shutout of the season.
UTRGV scored the game-winning goal in the 60

Sarah Bonney scored off a corner kick by freshman
Anna Torslov. The goal was Bonney's fourth of the season and the program-record 27
thof her career, coming on Torslov's first-career point.
UTRGV outshot SUU (0-4-0) 24-3, including 9-2 on goal.
Isabella Whitmore (0-1-0) made eight saves for SUU.
UTRGV continues this four-match home stand on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union. The first 200 fans in attendance will receive #BeatCorpus t-shirts. Admission is complimentary, courtesy of Entravision. Gates open at 6.
