SAN ANTONIO – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team hits the road for a pair of matches as it faces the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) this weekend. 
 
UTRGV will face UTSA on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center and will face UIW on Sunday at 12 p.m. at the Mabry Tennis Center. 
 
Last Time Out

• UTRGV (0-6) fell 0-7 to Corpus Christi in its home opener at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
• UTRGV sent out the singles lineup of No. 1 Katarina Sasaroga, No. 2 Ana Platisa, No. 3 Sandra Putz, No. 4, Alicia Thal, No. 5 Valeria Montero, No. 6 Kristyna Mamicova.
• In doubles, UTRGV sent out the lineup of No. 1 Sasaroga and Putz, No. 2 Thal and Mamicova, and No. 3 Montero and Platisa. 
• Sasarogatook her match to three sets as she faced off against Mariya Shumeika. She dropped the first set 2-6 before winning 7-5 in the second. She dropped the tiebreaker 4-10. 
• Sasaroga and Putz were one point away from clinching the win over Shumeika and Camille Townsend but the match was stopped when the doubles point was clinched. 

 
All-Time Series Against UTSA

• UTRGV is 4-25 against UTSA all-time in a series that dates back to 1986.
• UTRGV won the last match up 4-3 on Feb. 19, 2018 at the Orville Cox Tennis Center. 
• Last year's win snapped a six-match losing streak to UTSA. 
• UTRGV's last five vs. UTSA: W 4-3 (Feb. 10, 2018), L 0-7 (Feb. 12, 2017), L 2-5 (Feb. 28, 2016), L 1-6 (Mar. 14, 2015), and L 1-4 (Mar. 16, 2014).

• UTRGV is 5-1 all-time against Incarnate Word in a series that dates back to 1990.
• UTRGV won last season's matchup 5-2 at the Orville Cox Tennis Center on Feb. 25, 2018.

• Last five vs. UIW: W 5-2 (Feb. 25, 2018), W 6-1 (Feb. 27, 2015), W 5-2 (Mar. 21, 2014), W 5-2 (Feb. 16, 2014), and L 2-6 (Mar. 2, 2001).

 
Scouting UTSA

• UTSA is 2-2 on the season.
• UTSA is coming off of a 2-5 loss to UT Arlington on Feb. 8.
• Its two wins on the season have come against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Incarnate Word. 
• UTSA is 11-13 in singles play and 5-6 in doubles.
• Jasmin Starr leads the team with a 4-0 record in singles play while playing all her matches at the No. 1 spot. 
• Starr has teamed with Keegan McCain to post a 3-0 record in doubles play. 

 
Scouting UIW

• UIW is 2-3 on the season.
• UIW is coming off of a 0-4 loss to Louisiana back on Feb. 9.
• Its wins this season have come against Laredo Community College and Prairie View A&M.
• They have also faced Texas State, UTSA and was supposed to face Butler on Saturday as well. 
• UIW is 11-16 in singles play and 7-6 in doubles.
• Alejandra Tamayo leads the team with three singles victories while the team of Sophia Kermet and Taylor Parkinson lead the team with a 3-0 record in doubles.
