AUSTIN – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's soccer team fell 0-4 to the Austin Bold FC, of the United Soccer League, in an exhibition match on Saturday at the Lewis-Chen Family Field.
It's the third match against a professional team this spring after playing the Houston Dynamo and the RGV FC Toros earlier this month.
The matches against the professional teams continue to be beneficial to the growth of the players and the program as a whole.
"It was another challenging game with five freshmen and two sophomores in the starting lineup," UTRGV head coach
Paul Leese said. "Our goal this spring has been to try and reach the speed of play that the pros are able to maintain. The incredible experience of playing professional opposition will develop our players well for the fall and for their future after college."
UTRGV also played St. Edward's to a scoreless draw earlier in the day.
