RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team fell 2-5 to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center. 
 
The Vaqueros (0-9) grabbed the early lead as it took the doubles point from Texas A&M-Kingsville (2-1). The team of sophomores Katarina Sasaroga and Sandra Putz picked up a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles over Maya Donkor and Victoria Romanovskaia.
 
The duo of freshmen Valeria Montero and Kristyna Mamicova also picked up a win as they defeated Franka Sindicic and Valerie Ruiz 6-3 at the No. 3 spot. 
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville answered with wins at No. 2 and 4 singles spots before a 7-6, 6-1 victory by Ana Platisa over Sindicic tied the match at 2-2. 
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville picked up victories at the No. 6, 2, and 1 spots to clinch the win. 
 
UTRGV will be back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Laredo Community College at 1:30 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
