Javier Chavez scored his first-career goal to lead The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's soccer team past the Houston Baptist University Huskies 1-0 on Saturday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.

Ciro Calderon (0-6-0) for the game-winning goal.
The Vaqueros (6-5-0, 3-2-0 WAC) applied pressure throughout the match, outshooting the Huskies (2-11-0, 0-6-0 WAC) 17-3.

Oliver Padilla (3-2-0) made one save for his second shutout of the season, both of which have come during Western Athletic Conference play.
