UTRGV Game Notes
SEATTLE – In the completion on Friday's suspended game, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros baseball team fell to the University of Washington Huskies 10-3 on Saturday at Husky Ballpark.
The game had been suspended due to rain with the Huskies (1-3) leading 6-3 with two outs in the top of the fifth.
The regularly scheduled game will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m.
The Vaqueros (2-2) trailed 6-0 entering the fifth. Sophomore
Diego Ramirez led off with a single. One out later, postbaccalaureate student
Christian Sepulveda doubled down the line to get the Vaqueros on the board. Then, with two outs, freshman
Spencer Serven tripled to right-center to bring in Sepulveda. Junior Vela alum
RJ Ochoa followed with an RBI-double as lightning flashed through the sky to make the score 6-3. That is when the game was suspended.
Serven finished 2-for-5 while Sepulveda went 2-for-3.
When the game resumed, the Huskies added a run in the bottom of the fifth on a wild pitch.
The Huskies pushed across another run in the seventh on a squeeze by
Ramon Bramasco.
In the eighth, Bramasco and
Michael Petrie drew bases-loaded walks to complete the scoring.
Stefan Raeth (1-0) earned the win in relief, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings, scattering three hits while striking out two.
The Huskies jumped on the board in the first against junior Mission Veterans alum
Cristian Ramos (0-1) on RBI-singles by
Noah Hsue and
Michael Brown.
A
Braiden Ward single made the score 3-0 in the second.
The Huskies pushed across three more runs in the third on a Brown single, an error and a
Christian Jones single.
