RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team fell 0-6 to close out the doubleheader with the University of Houston Cougars on Monday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
The match was delayed about an hour due to wet courts as both teams decided to start the match with singles while doubles would be played only if needed.
The Cougars (12-4) got a point by default at the No. 6 spot before winning the rest of the matches to clinch the win over the Vaqueros (3-12).
Redshirt sophomore
Katarina Sasaroga battled in her first set with Mimi Kendall-Woseley at the No. 2 spot as she pushed the set to a 5-7 finish before falling 3-6 in the second.
Redshirt junior
Ana Platisa fell 3-6 in the first set to Laura Slisane at the No. 3 spot and then fought back in the second set to go up 5-4 before falling 5-7 in the second.
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Thursday, April 1, when they host the Grand Canyon University Antelopes at 1 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
