RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Thursday that the women's soccer season-opening road match against the University of South Dakota, previously scheduled for Friday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. has been canceled due to travel issues. 
 
There will be no makeup date. 
 
UTRGV will now open the season on Sunday when it visits South Dakota State at 12 p.m. at Fishback Soccer Park.
