Women's Soccer Falls to No. 6 TCU

FORT WORTH – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team fell 6-0 to the Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs, who are ranked sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, on Sunday at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium.

The Horned Frogs (3-0) didn't waste much time to take the lead as Grace Collins scored in the fourth minute of the match to make it 1-0 over the Vaqueros (1-2).

Later in the first half, Collins found Gracie Brian who then found the back of the net in the 17th minute for the 2-0 TCU lead.

After about an hour lightning delay coming out of halftime, TCU got a goal from Messiah Bright in the 50th minute making it 3-0.

The Horned Frogs added goals from Oli Pena in the 61st minute, another goal from Brian in the 71st minute, and a goal from Lauren Memoly in the 80th minute pushing the score to 6-0.

The Vaqueros were held to just two shots, one on goal, in the match while TCU put pressure on UTRGV's freshman goalkeeper Macie Blohowiak (0-1) with 34 shots and 16 shots on goal.

Blohowiak finished the match with a career-high 10 saves.

The Vaqueros will be back in action on Friday, September 3, when they host Texas Southern University at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
