SAN ANTONIO – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis team battled in the second day of the UTSA Roadrunner Invite on Saturday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
 
The Vaqueros forced tiebreakers in three of its matches as senior Carlo Izurieta dropped a tight match to UT Arlington's Miguel Cabrera the singles Draw B. Izurieta won the first set 7-6 but fell 2-6 in the second before a back-and-forth contest in the tiebreaker as he fell 12-14. 
 
Senior Alberto Mello fell in three sets to Abilene Christian's Oswaldo Cano Sosa in singles Draw D. Mello fell 0-6 in the first set but answered back with a 6-4 win in the second before falling 5-10 in the tiebreaker. 
 
Mello also battled teammate junior Chris Lawrance as Lawrance came away with the 6-3, 6-2 win. 
 
In doubles, Mello and junior Misha Kvantaliani battled against Rice's Emir Sendogan and UTSA's Maxim Groysman in the doubles Draw C but fell 7-8. 
 
Play will conclude on Sunday with matches starting at 8:30 a.m.
