HOUSTON – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros indoor track & field teams finished the Houston G5& Super 22 Invitational on a strong note to build on their momentum heading into conference competition.
The women's team tallied 22 points to finish ninth in the team standings. UTRGV's men also finished ninth with 19.5 points.

Aviana Goode earned third place in the women's high jump with her season's best and the program's fourth-best jump of 1.65 meters. Freshman Harlingen South alum
Annelle Rodriguez finished ninth in the event, setting a personal best by clearing 1.50 meters.

Michael Campbell also entered the record books with the programs seventh-best throw in the men's shot put, taking fourth in the event with a toss of 16.29 meters, a new personal record. Junior
Alexandrea Hurst found the medal stand with her third-place finish in the women's shot put with a throw of 15.02 meters.
UTRGV's distance runners performed well during day two. In the women's 3,000-meter run, sophomore
Anahi Romo ran a personal best 10:36.36 to finish eighth. Freshman

th. Scott's time of 23.36 was good for 38

In total, UTRGV entered the program record books six times and set 17 personal records over the course of the meet. Nine student-athletes now boast times or marks in the top 10 of 12 events among Western Athletic Conference (WAC) competitor rankings.
UTRGV's next meet will be the WAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 18-19 in Albuquerque, NM.
