CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team was defeated 0-7 by the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) Islanders in the South Texas Showdown presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union on Tuesday.
TAMUCC (10-2) took a 1-0 lead with doubles wins at No. 1 and No. 2, then swept the doubles matches with a win at No. 3.
UTRGV (3-2) battled in singles, but TAMUCC won all six matches in straight sets. Camille Townsend, Emma Honore and Emma Aucagne clinched the victory for the Islanders with wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 1, respectively.

Katarina Sasaroga were competitive in the No. 2 and No. 4 matches.
The Vaqueros travel to Stephenville this weekend for matches against UT-Permian Basin on Friday, Montana State on Saturday and Tarleton on Sunday. All matches will be at 10 a.m.
