KERRVILLE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team is back in action as they host The Big Texan Invitational starting on Monday at Comanche Trace Golf Course.
The 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. both days.
Comanche Trace Golf Course plays 7,059 yards and is a par 72.
The Competition
There will be a 13-team field that will feature host UTRGV, Houston Baptist, Texas Southern, Northern Colorado, New Orleans, Stephen F. Austin, Incarnate Word, Odessa College, Southeastern Louisiana, Midland College, Seton Hall, UT Arlington, and Lehigh.

Last Time Out
UTRGV posted a 12
th place finish at the GCU Invitational last week. The Vaqueros improved in each round to finish with a three-round score of 863 after posting rounds of 292, 286, and 285.
Taj Sutherland led the Vaqueros with a three-round score of 210 to finish tied for 10
th place. Sutherland posted rounds of 70, 71, and 69.
Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque finished tied for 21
st with a three-round score of 212 with rounds of 71, 70, and 71.
Leonardo Novella finished tied for 54
th with a three-round total of 217 after posting rounds of 75, 70, and 72.
Sebastian Lundberg finished in 111
th with a three-round score of 230 after carding rounds of 79, 78, and 73 and
Tennoshin Ogawa finished tied for 113
th with a three-round score of 232 with rounds of 76, 75, and 81.
Last Time at The Big Texan Invitational
The Vaqueros finished in second place in last year's Big Texan Invitational posting a three-round score of 865 with rounds of 290, 282, and 293.
Luca Portelli led the Vaqueros with a fourth place finish with a three-round score of 214. Portelli posted rounds of 73, 69, and 72 to finish just four shots off the lead.
Leonardo Novella finished tied for fifth just one shot back of Portelli with a three-round score of 215 after posting rounds of 71, 70, and 74.
Alex Summers tied for ninth with a three-round score of 218 after carding rounds of 76, 70, and 72.
Euan Gill finished tied for 17
th with a three-round total of 221 after posting rounds of 73, 73, and 75 and
Rhaasrikanesh Kanavathi finished tied for 29
th with a three-round score of 227 with rounds of 73, 76, and 78.
Abilene Christian took home the team title with a three-round score of 860 after posting rounds of 300, 282, and 278.
Abilene Christian's Alex Clouse won the individual title with a three-round score of 210.
