The Horned Frogs dominated possession and were aggressive in their offensive third, showcasing their speed and outshooting the Vaqueros 23-4, including 10-3 with shots-on-goal. They also got eight corner kicks to UTRGV's one.

Freshman defender Rosey Bjorgvinsdottirsophomore defender Libby Beilfussredshirt junior midfielder Elina Seppälä and sophomore defender Nadia Colon were tough on defense.

Senior midfielder Ana Recarte-Pachecosophomore forward Amy Hislop and sophomore midfielder Molly Reynosa hustled to get UTRGV's offense some chances. Midway through the opening half, Hislop took a shot following a throw-in in the Vaqueros' offensive third, but Alvarez notched the save.

The Horned Frogs made it 2-0 in the 41st minute following back-to-back corner kicks. Lauren Memoly received the corner and sent it in, then Hennessey controlled it and sunk a turning kick. TCU kept the momentum rolling in the second half and quickly went up 4-0 following back-to-back goals by Bright to record a hat trick. Bright scored in the 52nd and 55th minutes, once with her dribbling skills and then after going up and sending a header to the net off a perfect corner kick by Castain.

Despite the deficit, the Vaqueros continued to play hard led by the feisty Recarte-Pacheco. Hislop, Recarte-Pacheco and sophomore freshman Anna Frida Groedem took shots in the second half, but Alvarez came up with the saves. UTRGV's commendable defensive effort was a true full team effort.
