RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Friday that construction on the new UTRGV Fieldhouse atrium, which will positively impact to the fan experience, is now underway.
The new atrium will include a new entrance for fans attending basketball and volleyball games with a new box office, team store, concession stand, Hall of Fame area, and restrooms. Fans will also have the opportunity to enjoy a new, unique way to watch the games from the baseline club.
A new set of renderings showing what the fieldhouse atrium will look like can now be found at
GoUTRGV.com.
Construction is expected to be complete during the winter of 2024-25.
Due to the ongoing construction, fans attending basketball and volleyball games are limited to the west side doors by Schlotzsky's Vaquero Village for entrance and exit.
This is the second phase of upgrades to the UTRGV Fieldhouse, which has undergone significant interior renovations including a new video board and ribbon board, new seating, and a new court design. The interior renovations are expected to be complete in December.
"We are excited to be moving into our next phase of enhancements for the UTRGV Fieldhouse and are very much looking forward to the coming impact this addition will have on the fan experience," UTRGV Vice President and Director of Athletics
Chasse Conque said. "I want to thank our fans in advance for their patience with the new entrance and exit protocols as we continue our historic $85 million investment into UTRGV Athletics facilities."
Naming opportunities are available and can be pursued by contacting UTRGV Senior Associate Athletic Director for Advancement and Administration
Derek Schramm at (956) 665-3897 or
