RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's soccer team learned on Tuesday that
Bryant Farkarlun was selected by the Austin FC in the second round (31
st overall) of the 2024 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
Farkarlun becomes the third player in program history to be selected in the MLS SuperDraft after
Kyle Edwards (2018-19) was drafted by the Houston Dynamo in the fourth round in 2020 and
Reshaun Walkes (2020-21) was drafted by Toronto FC in the third round in 2022.
Farkarlun, who earned All-WAC First Team honors last season, played in 12 matches while making 11 starts for the Vaqueros and tied for the team lead with five goals and 10 points.
Farkarlun scored goals against Marquette, Xavier, Grand Canyon, and scored a pair of goals against San Jose State.
Farkarlun finished with 22 career goals after scoring 17 goals in three previous seasons at Houston Christian.
