SAN MARCOS – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros outdoor track & field program notched 10 top-three finishes and 26 personal records during the final day of competition at the Charles Austin Classic Saturday at the Texas State Track & Field Complex.
Junior
Uxia Pereira won the women's 100-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 14.23, which is the 10
th best time in program history. Freshman
Ashley Lingueno was seventh in the event and also ran a PR. Pereira added a second PR in the 400-meter hurdles in a fourth-place finish.
Junior
Aisha Gay won the women's 400-meter dash as she ran a PR 55.46. Freshman Brownsville Hanna alum
Aliyah Castillo was fourth in the event with a personal best. In the men's 400-meter dash, freshman
Sam Johnson II placed third with the fifth best time in program history of 47.35. Johnson and his four freshmen teammates –

Alejandro Arellano – all PR'd in the race.
Gay earned her second win of the day in the 200-meter dash, finishing in a personal record time of 24.23 seconds, the sixth-fastest in program history. Graduate student
Jada Hoffman finished right behind Gay with a second-place time of 24.51. Junior Rio Grande City alum
Daniella Muniz and freshman
Nayla Harris also set new personal records, as Muniz finished in 25.48 while Harris finished in 26.31.

Jermarrion Stewart turned in a season-best performance to take third in 40.84, which is the sixth fastest time in program history.

Ana Hernandez finished second in the women's 1,500-meter run in a PR of 4:52.24. Senior Edinburg North alum
Tristan Pena was second in the men's 800-meter run.
Hoffman took third in the women's 100-meter dash in a PR time of 11.92, which is the fifth fastest race in program history. Harris and Muniz also ran PRs in the women's 100-meter dash. UTRGV had four of five men's 100-meter dash runners place in the top five, led by Scott's sixth-place finish in a PR time of 10.76. Nero also hit a PR in the race.
Freshman
Hannah Hilding notched a new personal record in the women's discus, finishing fifth with a throw of 46.24 meters. Hilding and freshman PSJA Southwest alum
Ana Rodriguez both hit PRs in the women's shot put.
Freshman
Aaron Cooper set a personal record in the triple jump with a distance of 14.46 meters, the 10
th best in program history, to finish second.
Freshman
Jaylen Critton set a personal record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.36.
Johnson II led the men's 200-meter dash contingency with a 10
th place finish. Nero and Fields recorded PRs in the race.
UTRGV returns to the Texas State Track & Field Complex next week to compete Thursday through Saturday in the Bobcat Invitational.
