RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Sunday that senior guard
Justin Johnson of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is a member of the All-WAC First Team as voted on by the head coaches.
Johnson is averaging 20.6 points on 44.2% shooting from the field plus 68.8% shooting from the line, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 30 games.
Johnson leads the WAC in seven offensive categories, ranking second in the NCAA in free throw attempts (266), sixth in free throw makes (183), 18
th in points per game (20.6), 21
st in points (617), 25
th in field goal attempts (459), 44
th in field goal attempts (459), and 44
th in field goal makes (203). Johnson also ranks 219
th in the NCAA and second in the WAC in field goal shooting (44.2%), 247
th in the NCAA and eighth in the WAC in defensive rebounds per game (4.57), 333
rd in the NCAA and 12
th in the WAC in assists per game (3.1), and 338
th in the NCAA and 11
th in the WAC in assists (92).
Johnson is 14 points away from entering the top 10 in single-scoring in program history. He ranks fourth in free throw makes and third in free throw attempts. During his two years at UTRGV, Johnson has scored 1,166 points, ranking 17
th in program history, while hitting 327 free throws, which ranks sixth, and attempting 478 free throws, which ranks seventh.
