RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that freshman
Anais van Doesburg, of the women's soccer team, is the Killers Golf UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
Van Doesburg made three saves in the 1-0 win over Abilene Christian in the Western Athletic Conference opener. Van Doesburg's three saves helped her record her first-career shutout.
Van Doesburg also added one save against Tarleton State on Sunday as she anchored a defense that allowed just three total shots.
On the season, van Doesburg has made five starts and has picked up a pair of wins. She has made a team-high 14 saves and has posted .700 save percentage.
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 28, when they head to face Seattle U at 9 p.m. at Championship Field.
