SEATTLE, Wash. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Seattle U Redhawks on Thursday at Championship Field in their first Western Athletic Conference road match of the season.
The Vaqueros (3-5-2, 1-1-0 WAC) did a good job keeping the Redhawks (2-8-1, 0-2-0 WAC) off the board early in the first half as they denied several opportunities in the box.
The Redhawks found a loose ball in the box and Kailee Wilson snuck it by an outstretched hand of UTRGV goalkeeper
Anais van Doesburg in the 37
th minute for the 1-0 lead.
The UTRGV defense did a good job the rest of the first half to keep the score the same but in the second half the Redhawks added another goal as Hallie Bergford put it in the back of the net in the 53
rd minute making it 2-0.
Van Doesburg finished the night with three saves.
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 30 when they visit Utah Valley at 8 p.m. at Clyde Field.
