HOUSTON – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team posted a two-under 286 to close out the Bayou City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday at Westwood Country Club.
 
The Vaqueros used their second under par round of the tournament to finish in sixth place with a three-round score of 864. UTRGV was just three shots out of the top-five right behind Wichita State. 
 
Sophomore McAllen Memorial alum Esteban Gonzalez paced the Vaqueros in the final round with a three-under 69 as he finished tied for 23^rd with a three-round score of 214. Senior Juan Luis De Bethencourt Duque finished tied for 35^thwith a three-round score of 217 after carding a final round 75. 
 
Junior Arthit Kruaprayong posted a final round two-under 70 as he finished tied for 40^th with a three-round score of 219. Junior Luis Limon tied for 49^th with a three-round score of 221 after posting a final round even par 72. Redshirt senior Taj Sutherland finished tied for 68^th with a three-round score of 228 after posting a final round 81 and sophomore Eddie Lai posted a final round 78 to finish tied for 70^th with a three-round score of 229. 
 
Sam Houston won the team title with a three-round score of 837 after posting a final round 286. LSU's Noah McWilliams won the individual title in a playoff after finishing with a three-round score of 204. 
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action Oct. 6-8 at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas.
