CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team was defeated, 4-0, by the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (AMCC) Islanders in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union, Thursday at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
AMCC (9-1) captured the doubles point to take the 1-0 lead with wins on the second and third doubles courts. Graduate student

Marjorie Souza, playing doubles together for the first time this spring, picked up a good 6-4 win in the No. 1 match.
The Islanders clinched the victory with singles wins on the second, fourth and first courts.

Valentina Urraco all won the first sets of their matches, but the bouts went incomplete as AMCC clinched the team victory.
Bahr battled for a 7-6 win to open the No. 3 match and was trailing 2-1 in the second. Dule was knotted up in the No. 5 match against
Kateryna Rublevska, who she beat when these teams first faced off, 6-4, 0-6, 2-2. Urraco's match in the sixth spot was also tied, with the sophomore taking the first 6-2 then dropping the second 2-6 and even at 1-1 in the third.
Up next for the Vaqueros (4-3) will be a 12 p.m. match Wednesday at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
