LUBBOCK – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis team dropped the first match of a Friday doubleheader with the Texas Tech (TTU) Red Raiders, 4-0, at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Vaqueros (3-7) and Red Raiders (3-3) will face off again at 4 p.m. Friday.
UTRGV battled well in doubles action, but the Red Raiders took the 1-0 lead with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. UTRGV's No. 1 duo of senior

Ivo Isqueiro were knotted at 5-5, leading 30-15 behind Isqueiro's big serve in the game, when the doubles point was clinched causing their match to go unfinished.
Texas Tech clinched the victory with straight-set wins on the first, fifth and third courts.
Isqueiro picked up UTRGV's only set win, outdueling his opponent for a 7-5 first-set win at No. 4. He trailed 0-2 in the second set when the match was called. Sophomore McAllen Memorial alum
Agustin Salazar was competing hard at No. 2, tied 3-3 in the second set after dropping the first. Freshman
Paolo Bonaguro trailed in the No. 6 match that went unfinished as TTU secured the victory.
