HUMBLE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team saved their best for the final round of the All-American Intercollegiate as they posted a final round 293 to finish tied for 11^th on Tuesday at the Golf Club of Houston. 
 
The Vaqueros finished with a three-round team score of 890 as they finished tied with Arkansas State. The Vaqueros best round of the tournament allowed them to finish in front of power-five school Cincinnati while also finishing ahead of Rice, Southern Miss, Lamar, UTSA, Memphis, and Louisiana. 
 
Freshman and McAllen Memorial alum Esteban Gonzalez led the way for UTRGV as he finished tied for 14^th with a three-round score of 218 after posting a final round two-over par 74. Junior Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque finished tied for 23^rd with a three-round score of 221 after turning in a final round 73. 
 
Freshman Emilio Gil Leyva posted the team's best final round score of even-par 72 as he finished tied for 40^th with a three-round score of 224. Senior Javier Neira Garcia finished tied for 60^th with a three-round score of 227 after posting a final round two-over par 74. 
 
Redshirt junior Taj Sutherland finished tied for 94^th with a three-round score of 236 after a final round 80. Freshman Eddie Lai, who was competing in the individual tournament, finished tied for 26^th with a three-round score of 234 after carding a final round 80. 
 
Texas Tech won the team title with a three-round score of 871 as they overtook Sam Houston with a final round 287. UNLV's Yuki Moriyama won the individual title in a playoff after posting a final round 71 for a three-round score of 211. 
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action from March 25-26 when they host The Big Texan at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville.
