RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team opened Southland Conference (SLC) competition by playing the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions to a scoreless draw on Sunday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
Freshman
Heiddis Sigurdardottir (4-2-2) led the Vaqueros (4-3-2, 0-0-1 SLC) with a career-high tying six saves.
The Lions (1-6-3, 0-0-1 SLC) outshot the Vaqueros 11-9, including 6-3 on goal.
Sophomore
Linnea Eld attempted a team-high four shots, including two on goal. Sophomore
Rosie Train attempted the remaining shot on goal.
Gillian McKenzie (1-6-3) made three saves for the Lions.
The Vaqueros continue SLC play on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Lamar. Fans can watch on
ESPN+.
