BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis team saw junior Santiago Serrano advance to the singles main draw round of 32 in day two of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Texas Regional, hosted by Texas A&M.

On match point, Serrano delivered a huge ace out wide to complete the comeback three-set victory against TCU's Filip Apltauer, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. Serrano is advancing to the round of 32 and will face Baylor's (BU) Connor Henry Van Schalkwyk, the 60^th ranked player in the country.
 
Isqueiro and Whitehead also made their debut in the main draw as Isqueiro battled, but ultimately fell, to UT San Antonio's (UTSA) Oskar Grzegorzewski in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Whitehead dropped his match in straight sets to 6-0, 6-2. Both Isqueiro and Whitehead will move to the consolation round of 32.
 
In doubles, sophomore Michael Chan and Serrano picked up the Vaqueros lone main draw win, defeating Incarnate Word's (UIW) Santiago Flyckt and Mateo Galvez 8-5. Chan and Serrano dropped their next match 8-4 in the round of 32.
 
Juniors Paolo Bonaguro and Will Roberts battled against Mariano Dedura-Palomero and Lucas Marionneau, the 16^th seeded duo from Texas (UT), losing 8-7 (7-2). Meanwhile graduate student Sam Whitehead and sophomore Loic Young Kriegel dropped a heartbreaker to Lamar's Fabian Anthin and Maxwell Lindstedt, 8-7 (9-7).
 
UTRGV will continue its run at the ITA Texas Regional Sunday with the doubles consolation draw as Roberts and Bonaguro, Isqueiro and sophomore Eduardo Menezes, and Young and Whitehead are slated to begin at 9 a.m.
 
Doubles will be followed up by singles as Serrano is slated to start at 12 p.m. while Whitehead and Isqueiro are expected to make their consolation debut at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
