UTRGV Athletics Promotes Eddie Galvan to Chief of Staff/Associate AD for Development

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Senior Vice President and Director of Athletics Chasse Conque announced the promotion of Eddie Galvan to Chief of Staff/Associate Athletic Director for Development.

In his new role, Galvan will coordinate strategic and operational activities for UTRGV Athletics, manage and oversee key cross-functional initiatives, curate and develop community and philanthropic relations, and serve as a trusted advisor to Senior Vice President and Director of Athletics Chasse Conque.

"I could not be more thrilled to have Eddie assume the role of Chief of Staff," Conque said. "Over the past six years, our department has been blessed with continuity and alignment, and Eddie has been a big part of our success on both fronts. His passion for the Valley, our work, and our people is second to none. As Chief of Staff, he will serve a very important role within our senior leadership team that will allow our department to continue to grow and prosper for years to come. Personally, I am blessed to call Eddie a trusted colleague and friend, and I am excited to work together on multiple fronts."

Prior to his new role, Galvan was promoted to associate athletic director for development and premium seating in March 2024. Galvan helped UTRGV launch the Vaqueros Athletic Fund (VAF) which created a seamless opportunity for fans to participate in philanthropic giving. In fiscal year 2025, UTRGV generated nearly $7.7 million with $6,176,595 coming through philanthropic support.

Galvan also led the charge in all premium seating sales and offerings, selling out all premium seating options at UTRGV Athletics which included multi-year commitments for the 40 field level suites and patios and the 212 premium seats from the loge boxes and club seats at Robert & Janet Vackar Stadium, prior to UTRGV's inaugural season. In addition, Galvan led the charge in selling out the Home Plate Club at UTRGV Baseball Stadium, which launched prior to the 2024 season, and the new Baseline Club at the UTRGV Fieldhouse, which launched prior to the 2025-26 season.

"I am incredibly grateful for the trust that Chasse Conque has placed in me," Galvan said. "His mentorship, and the friendship we've developed, has shaped me both personally and professionally. I'm also thankful for our senior leadership team, staff, coaches, and all of our fans and supporters for believing in me and in what we're building together."

Galvan was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Tickets and Operations in November 2023. In this role, Galvan led the planning and execution for football ticket sales and operations while also participating in gameday logistics, ticket pricing, season ticket holder retention, seating assignments, staffing, and box office operations for UTRGV Football, along with other duties that carried over from his prior role.

"To be able to do this work in my hometown, surrounded by family, makes it even more meaningful," Galvan continued. "This university and this community have given me so much, and being able to serve in a way that unites the Valley and creates opportunities for our student-athletes is a blessing. I've watched this department grow, and I've been fortunate to grow up right alongside it. Stepping into this role is an honor, and the responsibility that comes with it is not something I take lightly. I'm committed to continuing to serve our student-athletes and supporters while helping move UTRGV Athletics and the Rio Grande Valley forward. V's Up!"

Galvan joined UTRGV in Aug. 2021 as the Ticket Sales and Operations Assistant where he managed the ticket sales website, set up group visits to competitions, and created lasting relationships in the community to draw supporters to the Vaqueros.

While at UTRGV, Galvan has helped the Vaqueros hit record ticket revenue and break attendance records across multiple sports. Galvan was instrumental in helping UTRGV gather the largest crowd to ever watch a women's basketball game in the Valley with 6,591 fans in attendance to see UTRGV take on Texas in 2023. Galvan facilitated ticket sales when a crowd of 6,418 fans saw the Vaqueros baseball team host Texas in 2022.

Galvan has previous experience in college athletics, having served as a communications and marketing assistant while a student at UTSA. He also worked in the Office of the Vice President for Business Affairs as a marketing assistant.

Galvan has also previously worked in sports in the Valley, serving as a marketing intern for Bert Ogden Arena, H-E-B Park, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and RGV FC in 2019.

Galvan graduated from UTSA with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in May 2020 and graduated with a Master of Business Administration from UTRGV in December 2022.
