RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that junior Isabella Costantini, of the volleyball team, is the UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Constantini helped #2 UTRGV advance to the championship match at the Southland Conference (SLC) Volleyball Tournament last weekend. For her efforts, Costantini was named to the SLC Volleyball All-Tournament Team.
 
Costantini had #2 UTRGV hitting .269 through the tournament, including a .420 hitting percentage in the sweep of #6 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (AMCC) in the semifinal round. The two-time SLC Setter of the Year totaled 96 assists, averaging 10.67 assists per set, through the tournament and notched two double-doubles. Costantini served four aces and had eight kills throughout the three-day run.
 
The Vaqueros opened the tournament with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-13 sweep of #7 Houston Christian University. Costantini notched her first double-double of the tournament, racking up 35 assists and 10 digs in the opening round victory.
 
In the semifinals, Costantini tallied another 35 aces and four kills in UTRGV's 25-17, 25-22, 25-16 sweep over #6 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In the championship match, Costantini earned her second double-double of the tournament with 26 assists and 11 digs.
