RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Tuesday that senior Faith Cruz, of the women's cross country team, is UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Cruz finished in eighth place at the Southland Conference Championships, at Walter P. Ledet Track Complex in Natchitoches, Louisiana, leading the Vaqueros to a third place finish. 
 
Cruze clocked in at 21:30.29 in the 6K race to earn All-Conference honors. Cruz helped the women's team accumulate 66 points to earn the program's best finish at a conference meet since they took second at the 2010 Great West Conference Championships.
 
UTRGV will be back in action at the NCAA South Central Regional on Nov. 14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
