RIO GRANDE VALLEY – After back-to-back years of record attendance and amid record season ticket sales for the 2025 season, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Wednesday that $4 million of renovations to UTRGV Baseball that have taken place over the last three years are now complete.
UTRGV completed phase three of upgrades to the stadium just in time for Friday's season opening game against Southern Illinois at 6:30 p.m.
Some of the enhancements that fans will see include the expansion of the home plate club, a sold out premium section behind home plate that includes mesh seats, a drink rail, and wait service, a new, clearer sound system that better projects audio, upgraded exterior lighting, and renovated restrooms including new sinks, new partitions, and fresh paint. The foul poles received a fresh coat of paint as they transition to becoming Church's Texas Chicken "fowl" poles. Additionally, fans in the original eight corrals in right field will be able to use brand new grills.
The home plate club was initially launched with 52 seats prior to the 2024 season and doubled for 2025 due to overwhelming demand. UTRGV also replaced all the chairback seats and put in brand new walls around the stadium before the 2024 season, including new padding all around the field and a new brick backstop.
Prior to the 2023 season, UTRGV unveiled an upgraded home clubhouse to kick off the renovations.
UTRGV has already sold more than 900 season tickets, breaking the previous program record of 599 sold in 2024. Season tickets are on sale now at
UTRGVTickets.com.
Last season, UTRGV welcomed a program record 62,132 fans, the 39
th most in the NCAA, shattering the program record set in 2023 of 45,461 fans. UTRGV drew two of the largest crowds in program history and seven of the program's 10 largest since moving into UTRGV Baseball Stadium (2002).
