RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's basketball team is bringing some momentum into Thursday's Southland Conference (SLC) rematch with the Incarnate Word (UIW) Cardinals set for 6:30 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
The Vaqueros (12-13, 7-7 SLC) are coming in hot after knocking off defending Southland champ Lamar for the first time since 1997. The first time UTRGV and UIW (14-9, 9-5 SLC) met in conference play, the Cardinals picked up a win at home. UTRGV is eager for the rematch and will lean on the home crowd to continue its perfect record at home against the Cardinals in a pivotal game for SLC standings.
UTRGV will recognize junior forward
Charlotte O'Keefe before the game to honor the two program records she has broken this season. She is the single-season and career rebounds leader in UTRGV history.
