LAREDO – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team finished in 13^th place as they wrapped up the Border Olympics, hosted by the University of Houston, on Tuesday at Laredo Country Club. 
 
The Vaqueros posted a final round of 304 to finish with a three-round score of 897. They finished just two shots back of Wright State for 12^th place but finished ahead of Illinois State, Lamar, and Houston Christian.
 
Sophomore McAllen Memorial alum Esteban Gonzalez led the Vaqueros with a three-round score of 220 after posting a final round 75. Gonzalez finished in a tie for 27^th. 
 
Junior Arthit Kruaprayong finished tied for 53^rd with a three-round score of 225 after posting a final round 79. Junior Luis Limón finished tied for 66^th with a three-round score of 229 after carding a final round 77.
 
Redshirt senior Taj Sutherland posted UTRGV's best round of the day as he posted a final round one-over par 73 to finish tied for 69^th with a three-round total of 230. Sophomore Eddie Lai finished tied for 78^th with a three-round score of 235 after a final round 81. 
 
Louisiana won the team title with a three-round score of 855 after posting a final round 283. New Mexico State's Ethan Klose won the individual title with a three-round score of 208 after a final round 67.  
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action March 10-11 when they host the South Texas Match Play at McAllen Country Club.
