RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team is looking to bounce back into the win column Thursday as it hosts the UT Permian Basin (UTPB) Falcons at 10 a.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
The Vaqueros (4-5, 2-2 Southland Conference) are 1-0 all-time against the Falcons (3-2, 0-0 Lone Star Conference). The lone match between these teams was played in 2022 and UTRGV picked up a 7-0 victory in a neutral site match.
UTRGV is looking to snap a two-match losing skid. After opening the SLC season with a pair of home wins, the first conference road trip saw the Vaqueros fall at Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin. Senior
Kristal Dule continues to shine for UTRGV in the third singles flight. She has won four in a row in singles action. The Vaqueros have also been sharp in doubles and will look to set the tone Thursday with another strong doubles session.
The Vaqueros are 4-1 in the confines of the Orville Cox Tennis Center and will lean on the home court advantage to try and stop the Falcons, who have won two in a row heading into Thursday's contest.
