RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team will compete at the All-American Intercollegiate, hosted by Rice University and the University of Houston, starting on Monday at the Golf Club of Houston.
The two-day event will feature 36 holes on Monday with the final 18 holes being played on Tuesday.
Golf Club of Houston plays 7,425 yards and is a par 72.
The Competition
The field for the match play event will be UTRGV, Rice, Houston, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, UNLV, North Texas, Penn, Sam Houston, Southern Miss, UTSA, TCU, Texas State, Troy, and Yale

Last Time Out
The Vaqueros won the inaugural South Texas Match Play at McAllen Country Club.
The Vaqueros defeated Nicholls, East Texas A&M, and Abilene Christian to keep the trophy in the Rio Grande Valley.
The Vaqueros picked up the 5-0 sweep of Nicholls in the first round before closing out the first day with a 3-2 win over East Texas A&M.
UTRGV battled with Abilene Christian on the final day with the match coming down to the final hole. UTRGV got wins from Luis Limón,
Emilio Gil Leyva, and
Esteban Gonzalez and a tie from
Arthit Kruaprayong.
Gonzalez converted a par putt on the 18
th green to seal the victory for UTRGV.
Last Year at the All-American
The Vaqueros finished tied for 11
th at last year's All-American with a three-round score of 890 after posting rounds of 298, 299, and 293.
Esteban Gonzalez tied for 14
th to lead the Vaqueros as he posted a three-round score of 218 with rounds of 74, 70, and 74.
Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque tied for 23
rd with a three-round score of 221 after turning in rounds of 71, 77, and 73.
Emilio Gil Leyva finished tied for 40
th with a three-round score of 224 after rounds of 77, 75, and 72.
Javier Neira Garcia finished tied for 60
th with a three-round score of 227 after rounds of 76, 77, and 74.
Taj Sutherland tied for 94
th with a three-round score of 236 with rounds of 79, 77, and 80 while
Eddie Lai finished tied for 26
th in the individual tournament with a three-round score of 234 with rounds of 78, 76, and 80.
Texas Tech won the team title with a three-round score of 871 with rounds of 296, 288, and 287. UNLV's Yuki Moriyama won the individual title with a three-round score of 211.
